Day 7 Juneteenth: Porto to Lisbon

 June 19th:

Some final Porto memories before we head to Lisbon.

Leaving our hotel room. Which was actually a Porto apartment on a cool walking street.

Don't forget to leave your keys at the front desk (WHOOPS)

Also, a couple life lessons I learned (or reaffirmed) during my time in Porto. Spiritually, vacations are a great time to do a “what’s important check”. Why?  Why not.  Also, when getting out of my normal routine, in amazing places, “what’s important thoughts” tend to surface.

Put On A Sangria Face More Often:  Just a quick smile or laugh can quickly change my mood.

Give More Compliments:  Giving is living. And compliments don’t cost anything.

Steph, "You're Doing Fucking Great."

Be With People: It’s proven that happy people aren’t lonely people. I feel for people that are lonely.  But relationships are two way highways. And as Will Holbrow taught us, “There is no traffic on the high road.”  Keep building deep relationships with your peeps, and once in awhile fix a needy pot hole.

(via text) Reid introduced me  to “My Concerts Info”.  A fun family exercise.  Here was my list:

First Concert: Pat Benetar
Last Concert: Phish
Best Concert (too hard): Stones - Berlin, TP/The Who - Tommy/Floyd - The Wall
Worst: Bob Dylan
Most Often Seen: TP and the Heartbreakers
Most Surprised By - Positively: Neal Young
Next Concert: Beach Boys
Wish I Could See: Led Zeppelin

Our driver to Lisbon is another Carlos?  Weird right?  What are the odds?  Maybe high for Portugal.

The girls really liked Carlos and thought he was very interesting and informative.  He shared some great info about Lisbon.  Dave also seemed to be hitting it off with Carlos.
Zzzzzz.  Huh?

We stopped along the way at a Grab and Go and they were selling a reminder of our other Carlos

Grab and Go and Do Not Pass Go

We arrived in Lisbon and staying at the Bairro Alto Hotel.

We checked in and immediately went shopping for umbrellas.

Found some

It's can't miss a meal time.  About a 10 minute walk from our hotel was a major league food court.

It was cool that we saw some wine being sold from the Duoro region.  I guess those vines from yesterday were real.
Hurray for Duoro.  Hurray for Duoro

No thanks.  Do you have a Dodger Dog?

"You got gas Momma?"

Nice Aperol Spritzer Bar

Later in the day, Saka arranged a boat tour on the river.  A 3 hour tour.  A 3 hour tour.  Our guides were Gabriel and Jewall.

The girls seemed happy.  Very happy.  Too happy?

"Hello ladies"

"Hi Captains"

Jewall was a Lisbon native and grew up on the other side of the river.  Gabriel was a cross between Napoleon Dynamite and a Cuban stud.  They were both great.

And yes, there were 2 other guys on the boat

Time to take our wenches back.  Would you girls like some candy?
A Captain's Kryptonite

I see you Gabe.  She is mine...

...but you are somewhat dreamy

After we saved our wives from the Captains, we headed to dinner.  A fine dining establishment suggested by The Simon's.  We had hummus, ceviche, tomato rice, brisket sandwich, curry, pasta and dessert.  Good call Simon's.  Thank you.

I'll spare you more food shots.  After dinner we decided to walk home in the rain in honor of Dave's first concert.... drum roll.... Neal Sedaka.  "Oh, how I love the rainy days, walking hand and hand with the one I love."
